At a busy hour in the station but at a time when rail traffic is reduced due to the health situation, these operations are implemented for greater efficiency outside the trains.
Speaking of the health context, travel certificate defects could be noted and verbalized, but the zonal director of the PAF, Pierre Bordereau, made it clear: “Initially, we act on request of the public prosecutor in as part of identity control. It is true that a police presence serves as a reminder that health measures must be respected, when we see for example that some people have already forgotten the confinement and take a lot of freedom ”.

Also visiting the site, Danyl Afsoud, chief of staff of the prefect of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, prefect of Côte-d’Or, delivered three objectives relating to this operation: “to identify and call upon foreigners in an irregular situation, identify the facts of common rights delinquency and question their perpetrators, search for offenses linked to the name respect for barrier gestures linked to the Covid-19 epidemic ”.

Having started at 3 p.m., the operation was to last “2h30-3h”. Returning to the effectiveness of a device ensuring that each access point to the station is supervised by the police, Pierre Bordereau noted at the heart of the operation: “After half an hour of checks , we arrested three foreigners in an irregular situation. One of the arrests is that of a Tunisian in possession of a false Italian identity document, who had already been brought back to Tunisia at the beginning of the year and who was subject to a ban on being in the territory because involved in a drug trafficking case last September. In Metz, a person wanted in connection with a criminal case in Italy was arrested ”.
