Both regions emerged victorious despite the confinement of November 2020. VO sales increased by 5.5% in Corsica and 2.6% in Paca. No other region is in the green.
In a used-vehicle market at half mast due to traffic restrictions and point of sale closures, there are still two French regions that have gone against the trend. No, it’s not Ile-de-France and Brittany, but Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Corsica which, according to statistics published by AAA Data, performed better than in November 2019.
Indeed, on the Provençal coast, all channels combined, used vehicle registrations climbed 2.6% over the period, compared to last year. Thus, 37,884 vehicles found a new owner. On the Isle of Beauty, although volumes are lower, with 2,795 registrations, this does not prevent growth from still being 5.5%, at the end of the 20 working days in November. These two regions will fail to save their year, however. The decline being 3.8% over the total number of months in Paca (411,613 transactions) and 5.7% in Corsica (27,808 transactions).
Ile-de-France, returned to the green thanks to a solid month of October, saw the resumed advance melt away, without compromising hopes for annual growth. In decline of 1.3% over the period of November, to 60,946 units, the region totals at the start of the home stretch a score of 719,810 used vehicles registered, i.e. 0.9% more than at the end of the First 11 months 2019. By plunging 5.1% during the last month, Brittany mortgaged its last chances. Barring a miracle, the region will not be able to make up for its 2.7% delay (262,519 VO over months).
The Hauts-de-France suffered the full brunt of government measures. According to AAA Data, used vehicle registrations fell 11.6% in November 2020 compared to 2019, reaching 40,100 units. This brings the total to 487,606 used vehicle registrations, or 5.4% less than last year. In this regard, it should be noted that at the last crossing point, the Grand-Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions show the strongest contraction in registrations. Both show -7%, to 446,523 and 231,202 units respectively.
