Neither will play on Saturday [contra Denver] and it is highly unlikely that neither will play in Sacramento as well. We have to be very careful and smart given the break we all get out of and then the short amount of time that is for training camp. There’s no way I’m throwing either of them into an NBA game well away. They got to build on it. “
Both Green and Wiseman have stayed out of the Warriors’ training camp start, and it’s unclear when they’ll be able to participate in full practice as the organization follows league protocols.
General manager Bob Myers said last week that two players had tested positive for COVID-19. While the organization was unable to name which players tested positive, Wiseman and Green are the only two who have yet to practice.
Kerr noted that Wiseman has been able to watch practice from a distance at the Warriors’ facility for the past two days along with former Warriors center Zaza Pachulia, who now works for the team as a basketball operations consultant. The Warriors social media account tweeted a video of Wiseman doing some shots of himself before practice.
Kerr acknowledged that “there is no replacement experience” for the 19-year-old rookie and is hopeful he will return to the court as soon as he is cleared. Kerr said about the initial development of Wiseman:
It just makes everything go backwards. It’s a shame because they are very important practices this week, so the only thing we’ve been able to do is sit down and watch the practice. And then watch the movie, both with the team and individually, and get tutored off the pitch, but as soon as he’s on the pitch, we’ll do everything we can with him to bring him up to speed. “
