Sony will buy the Crunchyroll streaming service for a billion dollars

Sony will acquire connections to three million paying Crunchyroll subscribers in more than 200 countries and regions. This will strengthen Sony in global competition with giants like Netflix. Crunchyroll will become part of the Funimation Global Group, which has one million subscribers in the United States and which Sony bought in 2017.

AT&T will reorganize its activities following the acquisition of Time Warner, which it acquired in 2018 and which it subsequently renamed Warner Media. She decided to sell the activities she considers secondary and invest more in other Warner Media activities.

The telecommunications giant expects to complete the deal as soon as possible. Over the past year, the company has sold assets worth billions of dollars, including a mobile division in Puerto Rico and data centers and offices in New York. The goal was to raise cash and reduce massive debt.

Warner Media also owned a majority stake in Central European Media Enterprises (CME), a media company that includes television stations in five Central and Eastern European countries, including the Czech group Nova. In February this year, CME shareholders approved an offer to take over the company from the Czech PPF group of entrepreneur Petr Kellner. The transaction, worth approximately $ 2.1 billion, was completed in October.
