The French are not allowed out on New Year’s Eve in the evening, the government decided

From December 15, the night curfew will also be extended by one hour, valid from 8 pm to 6 am, including New Year’s Eve, for which an exception was originally to apply. The French are only allowed to stay out of their place of residence at night on Christmas Eve.

France, with a population of 68 million on Wednesday, recorded 14,595 new cases of coronavirus SARS-CoV2, well above the 5,000 case target set by the government to lift the restriction measures from 15 December.

According to the Minister of Health Olivier Véran, the slight increase in the number of cases in recent days may be due to the opening of stores from November 28, but also the arrival of winter weather, he told a press conference.

In the Czech Republic of ten million, another 6402 confirmed cases of coronavirus were added on Wednesday, which is the highest increase since 19 November.

Cinemas, theaters, museums, sports grounds, zoos and casinos will be able to open in France on January 7 at the earliest, three weeks later than originally planned. A maximum of 30 people may continue to attend religious meetings. The commissioning of the ski resorts is not expected until January, and the Prime Minister will discuss financial support with their operators on Friday.

From 15 December, the French will be able to move freely between regions during the day, no written permission will be needed as before. The night curfew can still be violated only because of a trip to work, to a doctor or for the care of an endangered person. There will be no night curfew on Christmas Eve, but a maximum of six adults can meet in one household.
