Perfect Dark, Back 4 Blood, Dragon Age : les annonces des Game Awards

The Game Awards will have once again been an opportunity to discover several new games particularly awaited at the turn, with headlining the return with fanfare of Perfect Dark.

Perfect Dark (Xbox Series)

The big announcement of the evening was of course the reboot of Perfect Dark, an iconic series from British studio Rareware. Entrusted to the newly formed studio The Initiative, this ambitious project will be presented as a narrative solo FPS. The first teaser unveiled doesn’t reveal much about the game’s plot – aside from the fact that the story will take place in the near future and will again be linked to the multinational Datadyne Corporation. The first Perfect Dark was one of the first first-person shooters to skillfully blend action, stealth and adventure, set in a particularly rich SF universe.

Back 4 Blood (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

The creators of Left-4-Dead are also back with the spiritual sequel to the first two installments, dubbed Back 4 Blood, a cooperative shooter in which four players will have to help each other to survive hordes of monstrosities. The game takes everything that made Left 4 Dead so successful, with edgy gameplay, multiple enemy classes, and scripted missions in open settings. Good news: the wait will not be very long since the title will be released in June 2021 already.

The Callisto Protocol (PC, consoles)

Developed by former Call of Duty developers, The Callisto Protocol is an ambitious space survival horror that will be played entirely in first person. Expected in 2022, the game developed by the young studio Striking Distance is an exclusively playable title alone. The very short teaser unveiled at the Game Awards did not reveal much about the project, which however promises to be very ambitious. Over a hundred people in all have been working on this title for over a year and a half now.

Open Roads (PC, consoles)

New ambitious project for Annapurna, the publisher of “What Remains of Edith Fintch”. Open Roads will offer us to live a road trip between mother and daughter. The main role will be played by actress Keri Russell. It will be an essentially narrative experience. The first visuals suggest a lively style, characteristic of many of the studio’s productions. For the moment, not a word on the exit. However, the game should land on PC and consoles within a few months.

Dragon Age (PC, consoles)

The creators of Mass Effect are back with a new installment of the Dragon Age series, coming to PC and consoles. No direct sequel this time, but a new adventure that seems to come in the form of a reboot for the franchise. Few details have filtered for the moment, however, it seems very likely that this new Dragon Age will take the formula of its ancestors by presenting itself as an intense action-RPG in a heroic-fantasy universe. Like the previous episodes, this new section should be edited by Electronic Arts.

Endless Dungeon (PC, consoles)

Sega and Amplitude had also come to present their new project, Endless Dungeon, a cooperative action-RPG in a barred SF universe, expected both on PC and consoles.

Crimson Desert (PC)

Another nice surprise of the event: the announcement of Crimson Desert, a very ambitious MMORPG which seems to be quite openly inspired by a Witcher in its universe. Visually very impressive, the title will above all offer a very rich narrative experience with scripted missions. Crimson Desert also appears to be one of the first massively multiplayer games to take advantage of the capabilities of the latest graphics cards, with very impressive graphics rendering. The game is expected in winter 2021 on PC.

Evil Dead (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5, Switch)

Another surprise of the evening, the announcement of the adaptation of Evil Dead in video game. The game is signed Saber Interactive (World War Z) and is presented as a cooperative action game, in the tradition of a Left-4-Dead, but with a third person view. According to the first images presented, the title will propose to use bladed weapons and fire to eliminate the demonic hordes, but also all the vehicles available.

ARK 2

The real surprise of the evening will however remain ARK 2, the direct sequel to the open world survival game, for the moment expected only on PC, and with a size in the casting since Vin Diesel will play one of the main roles of this sequel. . If the previous installment was multiplayer oriented, this sequel seems to take a more narrative direction. However, we will have to wait for more information to be sure.

Season (PC, PS4, PS5)

The Scavengers studio also took advantage of the event to unveil its latest production, a third-person adventure game called Season, which will offer the player to go on a bike trip just before the end of the world. The game is presented as an initiatory journey during which a young woman will collect various artefacts and take pretty pictures of the planet before its destruction.
