From July 10th until last Saturday the Thunerseespiele presented their 17th musical with the new version of “I’ve never been to New York” at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. «Advance sales started well in autumn 2018. After we had already filled around a third of the seats in March, we decided to enlarge the grandstand from almost 2400 to 2700 seats, similar to last season. Due to the positive reviews and the consistently beautiful weather, ticket sales continued to run very well even after the premiere, ”says Angelo Stamera, Managing Director of the Thunerseespiele.

The team was particularly pleased with the positive voices from the audience, as Markus Dinhobl, executive producer, reports: “We still get compliments for the fast-paced new production and the unmistakable humor brought in by director Werner Bauer. From the professional live orchestra to the talented children and amateur actors to the musical professionals in the dance and singing ensemble: All of them have polished their parts with great attention to detail and together provided the fun and lively tone of the musical summer comedy ».

Almost perfect weather

Thanks to the beautiful, stable weather, those responsible for the Thunerseespiele only had to postpone two performances this year. The performance on Friday, July 26th had to be canceled due to the current weather conditions and replayed on the following Monday. The one from Saturday, July 27th, we played on Tuesday, July 30th, due to the acute danger of storms and thunderstorms. Overall, mild summer evenings and a unique full moon week around August 15 characterized the musical performances on Lake Thun, according to the organizers.

Thanks to around 68,000 visitors to 28 evening performances and the traditional August 1st matinée, the Lake Thun Games are again in the black this year. “The economic success is a nice confirmation of the decision not to shake the proven organization of the Thunerseespiele. The popular musical with the hits by Udo Jürgens, the breathtaking nature of the Bernese Oberland and the various dining options again offered our guests a great overall experience this summer. That was appreciated and honored. We are very grateful for that », says Angelo Stamera.

2020 folgt “Me without you”

In the summer of 2020 the successful musical “Io senza te” will return to the stage in a new version (this newspaper reported). From July 15 to August 29, 2020, the Thunerseespiele will once again present a Swiss hit musical with the dialect. The production with the songs of Peter, Sue and Marc already delighted over 120,000 visitors in 2015 and 2016 in Zurich. After Gotthelf, director Stefan Huber is directing for the second time in Thun. Advance sales start on November 1st.
