The group stage of the 2020/21 Champions League season is history and with FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Mönchengladbach, BVB and RB Leipzig all four German starters have made it to the round of 16. As a reward, at least one star from every Bundesliga club is represented in our top team in the preliminary round.

Sure, Toni Kroos doesn’t exactly stand for spectacle and often has to fend off criticism, he makes the game slow. The enormous influence of the German national player on what is happening on the pitch cannot be dismissed out of hand. Kroos brought 92 percent of his 498 and nine of 29 (!) Hit crosses to the man.

MITTELFELD: Christoph Kramer (Borussia Mönchengladbach)

The horse lung in the foal stable covered 72,915 meters, over two kilometers more than the second player in this ranking. In addition, Kramer garnished this value with his first goal in the premier class.

MITTELFELD: Thomas Müller (FC Bayern)

The eternal veteran of FC Bayern also delivered in 2020/21. One goal and three assists are available for Müller. Coach Hansi Flick even granted the 31-year-old three short assignments.

He’s certainly not the most popular and certainly not the most humble professional, but Neymar is simply a genius in football. Six goals and one assist in five preliminary round games are exceptional. Noteworthy: Neymar has scored all the goals in the last three group games – at a time when the air seemed to be getting thin for PSG.

ANGRIFF: Ciro Immobile (Lazio)

The Italian missed two games due to an infection with the corona virus, but the Lazio captain still has five hits and two assists. Especially in Dortmund, where it once crashed, Immobile convinced with a gala in the 3-1 success (1 goals / 1 assist).
