She didn’t know her old lotto ticket was worth $ 55 million

A lady from the Outaouais had the surprise of her life Tuesday night when she had her old Lotto Max ticket validated, the terminal announcing with great fanfare that she had just won $ 55 million.

Her name is not yet known and it was therefore not possible to locate her on Wednesday in order to speak to her, but the manager of the store where she had her ticket validated was able to testify to the emotion that invaded the winner. .

The scene took place around 9:15 p.m. at the Shell gas station at Montée de la Source, in Cantley, about 15 kilometers north of Gatineau. The woman, in her sixties according to Michel Faubert, the manager, had no idea that she held the winning ticket of October 30, even less that it was worth this sum.

“The clerk at the post called me to tell me that a client had just won the jackpot. I told him to lock the door and wait for my arrival. Five minutes later, the lady was still in shock, ”said Mr. Faubert.

The latter rechecked the ticket and the result of the validator to come to the same conclusion.

“It is special! It’s a great experience that you only experience once, ”he said. “I’m very happy for her. Good news is scarce in these times of pandemic. ”

Not up to date

Loto-Québec had made a reminder in the media on November 18 to find the winner (s) of this jackpot. The woman had never heard of this wanted notice, continuing her daily routine.

Worse yet, she couldn’t even remember where she got the ticket! The retailer number confirmed that it was purchased at the nearby IGA grocery store owned by the same owners, Pierre and Christine Charles, as the gas station.

The winner appeared on Wednesday with Loto-Québec, which must however carry out various checks before making the big reveal.

Outaouais: One millionaire found, another wanted

Another resident of the Outaouais became a millionaire on Wednesday thanks to Lotto Max.

Claude Perron won the Maxmillion in the December 1st draw. He had bought his ticket spontaneously at the Dépanneur Super 7 in Papineauville.

The winner wants to use this gain to buy a car, renovate the interior of their home and, once the pandemic is over, visit Tahiti and the Canadian west coast.

Millionaire wanted

Loto-Québec is also still looking for the winner of another prize of $ 1,000,000, this time won in Gatineau, Québec Max.

However, the lucky ticket holder has less than a month to come forward, as the winning combination (02-09-10-16-25-29-49) was announced on July 5, 2019.

Due to the pandemic, the claims period has been extended until January 3, 2021 in this specific case.
