Zwift specialists unload Dutch road toppers, but choke on Moolman
Annemiek van Vleuten, Anna van der Breggen and Kirsten Wild: the 3 Dutch toppers received a wildcard for the WC Zwift. What we could expect from it was to have a look before the match.
But the trio never played a significant role. Just like our compatriot Mieke Docx. Docx, not a specialist on Zwift, would end up in a second group.
All Zwift specialists were present at the front, with a strong American engine. But in between, road cyclist Ashleigh Moolman Pasio was also driving around.
She showed herself a few times during the race, but everything would eventually take place on the final climb. 900 meters to 5.5% give everything on average. Moolman put on her power up “lightweight” and ran away from the suit.
The Australian Gigante still planted herself in her wheel, but just couldn’t get out. In this way, Moolman was allowed to call herself the first Zwift world champion on her birthday.
