education
After the mass tests for educators, teacher representatives are missing a concept from the Ministry of Education for a safe school. Parent representatives, on the other hand, are calling for plans to finally be made about how education can continue in the CoV crisis. What is being done now is not enough.

The fact that the mask requirement is the only protective measure in schools makes compulsory school teachers’ union Anton Polivka shake his head. No class division, so that not too many children sit together in one room. Plexiglass panes or ventilation devices could have been installed in the school classes over the summer, but nothing happened.
“Investing Money in School Safety”
Apparently they don’t want to spend any money on security in schools, said Polivka. “When you start thinking about paying people something so that they can go to the mass test – I really grab my head about what we have money for. Take the money and invest it in education so that we can make schools safer and there is no need for a third lockdown. That would be my urgent appeal to politics, ”said Polivka.
Parents: There is no important annual planning
During the next lockdown, the schools would have to remain open, demanded Sabine Gabath, parents’ representative at Salzburg’s compulsory schools. In order to be able to make up the learning deficits, an annual plan should be approached that clearly explains the various options.
“In order to be able to plan, I should first say: How do we deal with the semester break, the Easter break? How do you deal with it in general, do they take place, what about the summer holidays? Will the school year be extended and the holidays shortened? But none of this is discussed at all ”, and in general the people concerned are not heard enough themselves, said parent representative Gabath. She would like the Education Directorate to make clear demands on the Ministry of Education.
Tests for Mair’s most effective remedy
Education director Rudolf Mair said: “Anything is better than locking up when the situation allows. But whether this is now possible or not is not decided pedagogically, but medically, if you will. ”Mair considers regular testing to be the most effective method in schools’ fight against the pandemic.
