They donate books in indigenous languages

The State Secretariat of Culture (Secult) received the donation of eight collections of books in indigenous languages, which will be destined to the same number of public libraries in the state.

The delivery was made by the general director of libraries of the Federal Government’s Ministry of Culture, Marx Arriaga Navarro, who assured that every year the intention is to increase the literary offer in the native language, since in the libraries there are very few or sometimes no copy.

“What was sought when assembling the collections is to begin to highlight the problem of the scarcity of literary work in native languages. There is no real editorial offer ”, he warned.

During the delivery held at the Tolimán Municipal Public Library “Amado Nervo”, the mural by the urban artist Andrey Sánchez was also inaugurated, who as part of the project “Enchúlame la Biblioteca” was inspired by a work by the Hñöñhö language poet Olivia Resendiz Gonzalez.

Finally, Paulina Aguado Romero, head of the Secult, highlighted that Tolimán is home to the highest concentration of indigenous Otomí population in the State. “Today the advancement and progress for which we work every day is present, but we also feel proud and privileged that their customs and traditions continue to be preserved, to a large extent, and among them their mother tongue”, he pointed out.
