He will be replaced by the CEO of the CISSS Chaudière-Appalaches, Daniel Paré, announced the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, in a press release Tuesday.

“This will in no way slow down the deployment of the unprecedented vaccination campaign which will begin as soon as the vaccine is available in Quebec,” said the Minister.

Daniel Paré was notably Director General of the Center de santé et de services sociaux de Montmagny-L’Islet from 2009 to 2012, then held the position of CEO of the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de Chaudière-Appalaches.

Quebec is preparing to start the COVID-19 vaccination campaign as early as next week, once the first doses have been received. About 4000 doses would be sent to Quebec.

Jérôme Gagnon had been described as “general” of the vaccination operation in Quebec when the announcement of his appointment by Prime Minister François Legault at the end of November.

Until last October, Mr. Gagnon was Deputy Director General for State Security, a division of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP) where he rose through the ranks for the past 15 years.
