According to information from the British “Independent”, the team from the Arabian Peninsula will join group A, which after yesterday’s draw in Zurich includes Portugal, Serbia, Ireland, Azerbaijan and Luxembourg. Negotiations are also supposed to take place in groups B, D or E. They include teams such as Spain, Sweden, France and Belgium.
In this way, the Qatar people are to continue their preparations for the World Cup. The team takes 59th place in the latest FIFA ranking and has no experience at the most important football tournament in the world. The role of the host puts additional pressure on them for a good result.
The Spanish Felix Sanchez is the coach of the hosts of the World Cup. Qatar has participated in tournaments outside of its continent before. The team performed in 2019 at Copa America and will probably also take part in next year’s edition.
