In disagreement with the positions of the Libertés et Territoires group, in which he has sat for two years, the deputy for the 8th constituency of Val-d’Oise joined that of the elected Modem, making up the presidential majority.
At the Palais Bourbon, the ranks of the Modem, Democrats and Allies group has a new deputy. Previously composed of 57 members, it was officially joined this Tuesday December 8, 2020 by François Pupponi, deputy (DVG) of the 8th constituency of Val-d’Oise since 2007 and Mayor of Sarcelles from 1997 to 2017.
After having sat for two years within the Libertés & Territoires group [classé à gauche, ndlr], François Pupponi explains that he no longer shares his positions. ” I consider that the government does not only make mistakes, the law against separatism suits me perfectly, the one called global security too, I sometimes vote for government texts, I am not systematically in the opposition , yet the Libertés et Territoires group has tipped into systematic opposition and this no longer corresponds to what I think », Explains François Pupponi.
By sitting with the elected officials of François Bayrou’s party, the deputy therefore joins the presidential majority, but has not remained a member of any political party since his departure from the PS in 2018. “ We can be in the majority, support it globally without being in agreement with everything. You have to understand that I am not part of the La République en Marche group. I will keep saying what I think », Concludes the elected.
