Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Two-Wheeled Action Association (Garda Indonesia) has raised its voice regarding the plan to merge Grab and Gojek. The online motorcycle taxi drivers association (ojol) rejected the plan and threatened to hold a massive demonstration.
Chairman of the Indonesian Guard Presidium Igun Wicaksono revealed that his party strongly rejects the mega merger or acquisition of Grab and Gojek because it has the potential to harm online motorcycle taxi drivers.
Igun Wicaksono also detailed three reasons for the rejection of the Grab and Gojek mega merger. FirstSooner or later, the corporate merger action will take efficiency measures, the threat of unilateral termination of the ojol driver will emerge.
Second, the performance of Grab and Gojek is still far from ideal and balanced in terms of partner transparency, social security, and partner welfare.

Igun Wicaksono added that Garda Indonesia will open space for dialogue for the discourse on the mega merger of Grab and Gojek, which is suspected to be at the urging of investor Masayoshi Son from Softbank.
