They find a transparent prototype of Apple’s Macintosh

The first Macintosh Apple is, without a doubt, one of the most important and representative pieces of hardware in the history of personal computers. Perhaps one of its most remembered aspects is its curious compact design that even seemed to draw a smile at all times.

Even so, the model had more than one ‘look’ in those days before the internet and one of them has just come to light. It is precisely a transparent edition of the Macintosh Classic, the one that was released in 1990, but has almost the same portable design as the original from 1984.

The finding was shared by user @DongleBookPro on Twitter. The publication shows several images of the Macintosh Classic with a completely transparent case, in the same style as those remembered iMac G3, although without color.

The equipment displays a label on the back that clearly indicates that this is a unit for development purposes and that it is “not suitable for sale in the United States,” so it is a prototype.

The specialized portal Applesfera points out that there is a possibility that the company has considered launching this transparent model on the market, but the truth is that this particular prototype was used for testing.

Why the transparent design then? First, the equipment can show everything that happens inside it and denotes a large volume of empty space, especially around the cathode ray monitor that only had nine inches.

In addition to the integrated display, almost all of the components of the computer itself are installed underneath it, with the motherboard positioned on top of the floppy disk readers and a few other boards at the back.

It is Macintosh Classic It only appeared in 1990 with an 8 MHz Motorola 68000 processor and only 1 MB of memory, shortly before Apple developed, together with IBM and Motorola itself, the RISC line of processors called Power PC, to compete against the Intel binomial. and Windows (also known as Wintel).

How about? Would you buy a Mac of this nature if Apple dared to launch it on the market? We leave you all the images of it in our gallery.
