The city of Brussels, the Brussels region and the relevant municipalities Boitsfort, Uccle and Ixelles reached an agreement on Monday afternoon about a new test for traffic in Bois de la Cambre. The next test phase will start on December 14, during which the “southern loop” will be reopened to car traffic. Brussels mayor Philippe Close (PS) will announce this at the Brussels city council on Monday evening.

Following the order of the judge in summary proceedings to reopen the “southern loop” of the Bois de la Cambre, the city of Brussels had to find a new traffic arrangement and agree with the surrounding municipalities. It was the municipality of Uccle that had instituted summary proceedings. Mayor Close announced the new test phase after a question from MR opposition member Geoffroy Coomans about the various protests for the closure of the forest.
“Protest is not allowed for the time being, because we are starting a participatory process in which citizens can give their opinion. But we are also launching a test that is included in the Good Move plan. In addition, the Bosvoordelaan and the Brasillaan will be reopened in both directions ”, says Mayor Close.
That test will therefore take effect from December 14th. The Bosvoordelaan and the Brasillaan will only be closed again during the holiday periods. The counting of the police zones concerned has not yet started. To do this, it is still waiting until when homeworking is no longer mandatory and the traffic situation is considered normal again.
Finally, a public tender is also launched to find a consultancy that will assist the municipalities and the region concerned.
