Son and Kane lead Tottenham against Arsenal, Liverpool keep up

In an exhibition of their stellar partner Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, Tottenham (1st) beat Arsenal (15th) 2-0 this Sunday in the London derby on the 11th date, and regained first place, with the Liverpool (2nd) following their rhythm by beating Wolverhampton (10th) 4-0.

Tottenham sentenced the duel in two masterfully ended cons. In the first Son Heung-Min opted for a superb shot from the left flank 30 meters from the frame (minute 13) and in the second the South Korean held out until Harry Kane doubled him, who hit with a whiplash from the peak of the small area (45 + 1).

“It was what we were looking for. ‘Sonny’ and I felt very comfortable. When he gives me passes he makes me feel good,” Kane said. Between the two they have scored 27 goals this season counting all competitions.

With 2-0 against, Arsenal had their best minutes at the start of the second half, but they lacked dynamite in the rival area and were not even able to open their score on a good handful of occasions.

“We have to score goals, if it’s not unsustainable,” Gunners coach Mikel Arteta said.

With this victory the Spurs add 24 points, the same as Liverpool but with a better goal difference. Two are left by Chelsea (3rd), who had taken first place on Saturday after beating Leeds (14th) 3-1.

“We have grown, I can imagine that many people would have thought that three games in a row against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal could be a moment in which we left points, but we have not returned to normal, we are there,” said the coach of the Spurs Jose Mourinho.

Later, at Anfield, finally with an audience – a maximum of 2,000 people in stadiums in cities where the pandemic is under control – the Reds had a placid evening.

The Egyptian Mohamed Salah (24), the Dutch Georginio Wijnaldum (58), the German Joel Matip (67), and the Portuguese Nelson Semedo (78 own goal) sealed the win.

“The game, the atmosphere … It was so beautiful that it gave me goose bumps. They started the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ – Liverpool anthem – and it was very beautiful, I had never felt it so much,” said the Reds coach Jurgen Klopp on the return of the fans.

Before, Leicester, fourth with 21, won ‘in extremis’ (2-1) at bottom bottom Sheffield United, with a goal from the essential Jamie Vardy.

When it looked like the Foxes were heading to their fourth straight game without a win, counting all competitions, Vardy struck in the 90th minute.

On a lost ball in midfield by Sheffield, James Maddison found the English international, who went to the limit of offside to seal the three points.

The Foxes had opened the scoring through the Spanish Ayoze Pérez, who took advantage of a loose ball in the area (24). Two minutes later, in a corner, Oliver McBurnie equalized for Sheffield.

Previously, Crystal Palace (11th) feasted (5-1) against West Bromwich (19th) with doubles from Ivorian Wilfried Zaha (55 and 68) and Belgian Christian Benteke (59 and 82).
