One-year and four-month prison sentences for mask and disinfectant trafficking | The news

Fraud in the sale of masks and disinfectants is punishable by one and four months’ imprisonment

Riga, Dec. 7, LETA. The court of first instance sentenced a woman to one year and four months in prison for fraud in the sale of medical masks and disinfectants, the LETA agency found out in the prosecutor’s office.

The judgment is currently being appealed to the Riga Regional Court.

There are a total of 48 victims in the case.

In the spring of this year, the State Police wrote in a press release that in the criminal proceedings initiated on March 27, information was obtained that a person who had created several profiles on the social network “Facebook” with the words “Andris Paskovs”, “Aija Aija”, “Aija Askova” and “Aija Paskova “, pretended to be a trader of medical masks, disinfectants and other goods.

Residents who wanted to buy the goods were invited by the person to transfer money to the accounts LV31LPNS0005703552531 and LV14RIKO0001050725581, promising to deliver the goods via a parcel post after receiving the money. However, this person did not ship the product and stopped any communication with the customers.

An investigation was carried out in the criminal proceedings and as a result the possible guilty person was clarified – a woman born in 1989, who had already come to the attention of the police several times before. She has also been previously convicted of criminal offenses against property interests.

This woman has no declared place of residence. She was hiding from the police, changing her visual image, including wearing wigs. Despite attempts to cover up, the police of the Riga Regional Office of the State Police found out her whereabouts and detained the person on 29 April.
