On Friday alone, 14 people died in New York City between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. local time – more than one death per hour. The metropolis is eerily empty.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has called the metropolis the “epicenter of the crisis” in the USA. So far, there have been 5151 confirmed coronavirus cases in the metropolis.

As the “New York Post” reports, 14 people died on Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. (local time), that is more than one death per hour. Overall, the number of corona deaths increased to 43.

“Spooky” empty metropolis

The currently empty streets and subways of the otherwise lively “Big Apple” can be seen on photo agencies. For example, Time Square, where thousands of people frolic every day, seems deserted. A resident of the Big Apple says, “It’s all very spooky here.”

Nationwide, there have been over 19,600 coronavirus infections in the USA so far, and 258 people have died.
