Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez, announced that Turkey’s third Kanuni drillship is preparing to drill in the Black Sea.
Dönmez released a 46-minute video including images from the Kanuni drillship via Twitter.
“Kanuni is preparing to drill in the rough Black Sea. The tower merged. It has begun the countdown…”
The Kanuni, who participated earlier this year in the inventory of the Turkey Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), was built in 2012. Capable of drilling 3,000 meters to a depth of 11,400 meters, the Kanuni is known as the sixth generation ultra-deepwater drillship.
The 227-meter-long, 114-meter-high and 42-meter-wide vessel, which departed the Port of Taşucu in Mersin on October 13, arrived at the Port of Haydarpaşa crossing the Bosphorus from Istanbul on October 19.
The Kanuni anchored in the Port of Filyos on November 14 after the farewell ceremony held with the participation of Minister Fatih Dönmez on November 13.
