The French carmaker DS, an exclusive offshoot of Citroën, says it wants to combine luxury and technology in the upcoming DS 4 model and show it to its customers. The DS has identified four areas in which the vehicle should excel. These are electrification with the E-Tense system, connectivity, comfort and light signature of the car.
–
The DS 4 will build on the new development version of the EMP2 modular platform, which is ready for partial electrification, but is lighter and will give the car more space in the cab in the final. It is made partly of pressed and composite materials.
–
A plug-in hybrid will appear under the hood, which will consist of an in-line four-cylinder four-cylinder petrol engine and a 110-horsepower electric motor for a combined output of 225 hp. It travels through an eight-speed automatic on the front wheels. The DS’s purely electric range is more than 50 kilometers.
–
The most interesting novelty in connectivity and technology is the so-called extended head-up display. As a normal head-up display, it projects basic information about driving, navigation or safety systems virtually about 4 meters in front of the windshield. DS describes it as a step towards the augmented reality that some more expensive brands already offer.
–
An interesting system is also the improved semi-autonomous control of the 2nd level. The DS Drive Assist system has already appeared in the DS 3 Crossback, DS 7 Crossback and DS 9 models. However, it will appear in the new DS 4 in version 2.0. The driver will now be able to choose where the car will drive in the lane. There is also a lane assistant and cornering speed adjustment.
–
A novelty is also night vision, simply marked DS Night Vision, thanks to which the driver can see pedestrians or game by the road in the dark better and earlier at night. The car has an infrared camera in the grid, which detects pedestrians and animals at a distance of up to 200 meters.

The last pillar is the vehicle’s light signature, which will consist of modern light projectors with the DS Matrix LED Vision system. The lights will be rotating, autonomous and have five preset modes for city, landscape, highway, bad weather and fog.

The new DS 4 is expected to see the light of day by the end of this year. The exact date of the start of sales and the price list are not yet in the world.
