The PP of Salceda advocates a more ambitious Climate Action Plan

The Corporation of Salceda de Caselas unanimously approved in plenary session the Action Plan for Climate and Sustainable Energy (PACES) approved by all entities adhering to the mayors’ pact for climate and energy.

The approval took place in extremis, at the end of the time limit to be eligible for a subsidy granted by the Xunta for this purpose.

The PP, who voted in favor, nevertheless requested that their contributions be collected and criticized the call for an urgent plenary session on this issue early in the morning.

In addition, Primitivo González, the popular mayor, stated that the document is “concise and generalist” and called for a more ambitious plan for the town. “I think we should be more ambitious in this document, it has 31 pages, of which the first 11 provide data from the INE, the situation in Salceda, the number of children in school, neighborhoods and parishes.” For the PP, the plan was expensive “because it comes out at 7,260 euros … and with this amount it can be more ambitious and not generalist, not even all the points of the plan are there, it is not even mentioned how climate change can influence traditional agriculture of the council … ”

The popular ones asked that bonuses be included in the IBI to houses that accredit energy certifications A or B, also bonuses to companies that make use of cogeneration in their facilities or renewable energies.

They also reproached “having to approve the document, quickly and running, on the last day to have to justify the subsidy.”

On the part of the government, the matter was defended by the socialist mayor Rubén González Coto, councilor for the Environment and responsible for the plan, who stressed that the document describes and analyzes the different risks to which the municipality is exposed now and in the future by climate change. He indicated that “the creation of an office against climate change, green contracting, sustainable mobility and a long etcetera is being proposed.” The deputy mayor, Verónica Tourón (PSOE), also spoke, highlighting the possibilities for improving the document “which is a living document on which we can work and every two years we will have to account for the measures.”

Finally, the mayor, Loli Castiñeira (MS), highlighted the actions already carried out in the last 13 years in line with the project such as the humanization and pedestrianization of areas “gaining space for people”, creating a network of paths to be able to enjoy of green spaces, the installation of recycling islands and the creation of composting points, in order to reduce waste ”.
