The Surinam-Dutch lawyer Sam Bharatsingh of Judicium Advocatuur from Hilversum, has been removed from the tableau by the Dutch disciplinary court for lawyers.

According to a published this week statement of the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Council of Discipline, this happened after a serious case of conflict of interest. It’s going to be a serious one conflict of interest at a family business where he had been at home for decades.

Stoppage is the most severe sanction that can be imposed on lawyers. As soon as the deletion has become irrevocable by confirmation of the disciplinary court, it means that they will be permanently deleted from the register of lawyers.

Bharatsingh, 59, who was born in Suriname, has since appealed against his expulsion. He may continue to practice his profession as a lawyer until the disciplinary court has ruled on this appeal.
