The second training took place completely in the dark and under the conditions that should prevail in qualifying and racing.
At the beginning of the training, the riders traditionally rode on medium and hard tires. Then came the word soft tires and qualification simulations. The fastest time was set by Valtteri Bottas, but the race directorate erased his time for exceeding the track limits in the eighth turn. His teammate George Russell took the lead.
Ferrari drivers had problems in training. Leclerc already had problems with technology in the first fast lap and had to drive slowly to the pits. According to Ferrari, there was a problem with the drive shaft. Leclerc never returned to the track.
Vettel spun twice on the track again. During the second massive hours and skidding, he almost met Kevin Magnussen’s car.
They also had problems with McLaren. Sainz had to return to the pits due to problems with gear synchronization. He later returned to the track, which could not be said of his teammate, for whom training ended prematurely. Norris reported floor damage during training.
Max Verstappen finished second, but complained of understeer in the seventh and eighth turns.
