The American actress and UN ambassador Angelina Jolie interviewed Gitanjali for Time. “Even in a video call, her brilliant spirit and generous attitude shimmer through, along with her inspiring message to young people around the world,” Jolie writes.
Gitanjali says she didn’t have some sort of “aha moment” where she realized science was her thing. “I was always someone who wanted to put a smile on people’s faces. That was my goal, every day, to make people laugh.” That soon changed to: “how can we bring positivity and togetherness to the world where we live?”
“When I was about 8 years old, I started thinking about how we can use science and technology to bring about social change. I was 10 when I told my parents that I wanted to research the technology of nanotubes in carbon.”
