Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) will announce today the exact date when they will open ski resorts in the Czech Republic. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) told Radio Z today. The Prime Minister spoke in the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday that the slopes could be opened on 24 December under certain conditions. Today, however, he stated that the commissioning of the complex will eventually take place sooner and it will be some Friday.

Babiš said on interpellations on Thursday that the opening date of the slopes will probably be the same as in Austria, where December 24 is expected. But today he said it should be sooner. “It should be a Friday, but I’ll leave it to him (Blatný), it’s mainly about queue management,” the prime minister told Radio Z.

According to him, the situation in the Czech Republic is different than in Austria, where hotels are closed. “In our country, they are open within the anti-epidemic system PES. When people are there, we want to allow them to ski, “he said. The state will probably not allow the normal operation of places with refreshments. “It must be under strict measures, at the beginning of the year the virus came from skiing in Italy,” Babiš warned.

He does not anticipate that foreign tourists could go to the mountains. “In Austria, it is for the locals, in our country it should also be only for our people,” he said. According to him, if people from abroad arrived, it would not be good. “The epidemic is (abroad) about three weeks or a month behind us, it is rising everywhere. We have to prevent it, “he explained.

Babiš admitted that he was afraid of the third wave. “We have a lot of work to do. This year is the worst in my life and for most people it was a bad year. We need to have him behind us. Let’s hope we start the new one better and the wave won’t come. But we must therefore be responsible throughout Christmas until the end of the year. No parties, as we were used to, “he stated.

Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlíček (for YES) said on Thursday that the government was afraid to open the winter centers now due to the return of pupils to schools and further vacancies. In its latest resolution, it therefore decided that the lifts and cable cars must remain closed until 12 December, when the emergency situation should end. However, most measures related to the validity of a state of emergency are usually left in force by the government when extended, unless it decides to dismantle it.
