Ryanair has ordered another 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The catalog price is 200 billion crowns Companies and markets

The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has ordered another 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft with a catalog value of nine billion dollars (almost 200 billion CZK). Reuters reported on Thursday. The order comes shortly after regulators lifted a 20-month ban on the operation of these aircraft.

Ryanair has not disclosed the purchase price, but according to merchants, discounts of more than 50 percent of list prices are common for such orders. According to Reuters sources, Boeing could provide an even more significant discount in this case.

Ryanair is the largest low-cost airline in Europe and one of the most important customers of the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing. The company has previously ordered 135 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, and expects the delivery of the first machines at the beginning of next year.

MAX aircraft were shut down in March 2019 after two serious accidents in which a total of 346 people lost their lives. The new order from Ryanair is the largest order for these aircraft since 2018, Reuters reported.

In mid-November, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) allowed Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to resume operations. However, the resumption of operations is conditional on aircraft modifications and new pilot training.

On Wednesday, media representatives were the first passengers to try the flight with a modified 737 MAX aircraft. The flight was organized by American Airlines to show that the plane is safe. It was the first flight of an aircraft with passengers since its decommissioning.

The smooth return of the MAX to service is considered essential to Boeing’s reputation and financial situation, which has been hit hard not only by the shutdown of the aircraft, but also by the coronavirus crisis.
