No short-time work – Kremser McDonald’s will keep all employees

Andreas Schwerla, head of the Kremser McDonald’s, was exposed to hostility due to unfair treatment of employees in the recent past, the NÖN reported:

The operator of three branches in Lower Austria (Krems, St. Pölten, Neulengbach) and seven others in Vienna, on the other hand, sees itself as a particularly employee-friendly employer.

“Even in the current lockdown, I kept all employees in all ten companies,” said Schwerla. “And not a single one was sent on short-time work!”

For the entrepreneur, the extreme loyalty of most of those affected is confirmation of his path. “Among my 77 employees, including in Krems, I have several who have been with us for more than ten years.”

Largest gastro operation in all of Lower Austria

Born in Munich, Schwerla (54), who has worked for the group for 37 years – among other things, he was CEO for Austria and Eastern Europe – started with two of his own companies in Austria in 2013, seven in 2016 and the tenth in 2019. Today Schwerla, with its three restaurants and around 200 employees in Lower Austria, is the country’s largest single catering establishment.

“My employees can expect fair behavior from me and take responsibility,” he says, referring to voluntary social benefits and courtesy when considering personal needs.

His roughly 600 employees can also count on him when they need help with private problems. So are currently about 70 “credits” for employees who were in need of money, running. Numerous successful careers began in his bars. “In return, I expect a positive attitude towards work that should be fun.”
