The Slavia footballers defeated Beer Šev 3-0 in the 5th round of the basic group C of the European League and, as the only Czech club this season, advanced to the spring elimination phase of the competition.
In the 31st and 36th minute, Abdallah Sima and Nicolae Stanciu scored, the final result was determined again by Sima five minutes before the end. The people of Prague will end the group in a week in Leverkusen.
Slavia will play the spring part of the European Cups for the second time since the 2007/08 season. The year before, under coach Jindřich Trpišovský, she also advanced from the European League group and reached the quarterfinals.
The opponents for the introductory round of the spring elimination phase, which will take place on February 18 and 25, will be awarded a draw to the Prague team on December 14 in Nyon, Switzerland.
The Slavists, who moved to the European League after being eliminated in the final preliminary round of the Champions League, have earned 10.7 million euros (almost 283 million crowns) so far this season of European Cups, together with today’s win and a certain progress.
In addition, they will receive a bonus for placing in the table, which will amount to 500 thousand or one million euros. Additional funds can be credited in the case of a point gain in Leverkusen and the elimination process.
Although even after today’s mitigation of measures against the spread of coronavirus and the transition to the third stage of the anti-epidemic system, spectators in the Czech Republic are not allowed to go to sporting events, there could have been 600 negatively tested people from the club’s partners in Eden.
Slavia created her first opportunity against Beer Ševa in the seventh minute. Masopust fired from behind the penalty area, but the goalkeeper Levita pulled out the ball. The Prague team could not get to a significant threat to the goal, but in the 31st minute they had the first goal.
Kuchta centered in the lime, Levita ill-timed the run, and Sima opened the score with his head in an empty goal. Nineteen-year-old Senegalese scored in the European League among shooters in the third match in a row.
Five minutes later, the people of Prague increased. Twit’s kick from the lime caught Stancia, whose shot from the limit of the 16th Levita did not reach.
After changing the sides, the home team controlled the lead without any problems, Hapoel did not shoot directly at the goal for the whole match. Kuchta and Olayinka were close to the third goal, but the ending did not go as planned.
The final result was set in the 85th minute by Sima, who ran into the lime for Olayink’s pass and with the help of Twit’s flow and a rebound from the stick scored the second goal in the match.
The Vršovice team, for which a draw was enough to advance today, won the European League for the fourth time in a row and Beer Ševa retaliated 1: 3 in October.
