Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Health protocol and vaccines are effective treatments for Covid-19. Apart from being highly contagious, this disease also creates systematic problems for patients with comorbidities.
Member of the National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee from the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI) Soedjatmiko revealed that the most effective handling of the Covid-19 pandemic must cover at least three things.
First, people who are disciplined apply health protocols, the implementation of 3T (tracing, testing, and treatment), as well as vaccinations with coverage of 70 percent.
“Let’s prevent Covid-19 with 3M and 3T, but it must be added with vaccinations that have 70 percent coverage, so it is hoped that transmission will be hampered, the pandemic will slow down, and the economy will increase,” said Soedjatmiko in the Productive Dialogue ‘Indonesia Prepares Vaccines’ which was held. Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC PEN), Wednesday (02/12).
This health protocol is campaign compliant #Covid-19 task force, that is #ingatpesanibu to #pakaimasker, #cucitangan use soap, and #jagajarak avoid the crowd.
He called Covid-19 indiscriminate. ITAGI records say that 60.4 percent of Covid-19 patients aged 19-59 years died. They are at this age active outside the home by selling, playing, and all other activities. The government has made maximum efforts by conducting 3T (Testing, Tracing, and Treatment) and educating the public to comply with 3M.
However, until November about 160 doctors and 130 nurses or paramedics had died. They struggle to treat those who are already sick.
According to him, the initiative to intervene in health through vaccines was carried out considering the recent pandemic conditions which are quite difficult for a number of countries in the world to control.
“Since May China has started preparing vaccines, WHO also started the same steps in June, while in America and Europe also started preparation of vaccine candidates in June-July,” he said.
Vaccination is a safe and common step in the world, including in Indonesia. Indonesia has vaccinated millions of people since 1974 and is proven safe. The acceleration of vaccine discovery while maintaining the principles of safety and effectiveness is urgently needed at this time.
“The case for which vaccine is used will let the government decide, but one of the vaccines that may be used in Indonesia is the Sinovac vaccine, which has been tested in phase III clinics in Bandung,” he added.
He hopes that someday the public will be actively involved in immunization when the vaccine is ready for distribution. The ITAGI survey with the Ministry of Health stated that 64 percent of Indonesians are willing to receive vaccinations and 24 percent are still in doubt. Soedjatmiko hopes that this group that is still in doubt will participate, so that they are protected from Covid-19 transmission, illness, and death.
Heart and blood vessel specialist Erika, as a health worker who is directly involved in handling Covid-19 patients, admits that she often feels that the fear of being exposed to Covid-19 still exists today. But his courage grew when he started seeing patients recover.
The most severe condition was found in patients with cardiac comorbidities. Their health condition was very bad during treatment.
“Covid-19 patients with cardiac comorbidities and hypertension are quite high. Covid-19 patients with cardiac comorbidities automatically create systematic problems (systemic problem) whose treatment is much more difficult than those without comorbid “, he explained.
