78% of Vitoria residents are satisfied with their public services, according to a study promoted by OSUR

Water supply and public transport remain the best valued services by Vitoria citizens

78% of Vitoria residents are satisfied with their public services, according to the results of the II Barometer of Satisfaction of Public Services promoted by the Urban Services Observatory (OSUR), with water supply and public transport being the services best valued by the neighbors of Vitoria.

The results of the survey carried out by Ipsos indicate that the valuation of Vitorians with the public services they receive exceeds the average satisfaction index in Spain (64%) and the city remains the third of the 30 analyzed, only surpassed by Bilbao and Pamplona.



The results of this second edition of the Barometer are the result of an annual survey of 5,137 people that seeks to reflect the opinion of citizens about their public services in the 30 most populated municipalities in the country.

In this way, residents of Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, Alcalá de Henares, Alicante, Badalona, ​​Bilbao, Cartagena, Córdoba, A Coruña, Elche, Gijón, Granada, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat have been asked, Jerez de la Frontera, Móstoles, Murcia, Oviedo, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Pamplona, ​​Sabadell, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Terrassa, Valladolid, Vigo and Vitoria.

In the capital of Alava, the services that have registered the most important improvements compared to last year are the care of parks and gardens and street cleaning, with increases in satisfaction rates of 9% and 8%, respectively.

Opinion on water supply increased four percentage points in satisfaction levels, while garbage collection and public transport increased 3 percentage points.

Analyzing each service in detail, the water supply is the best considered and remains in first position with 79% of satisfied citizens. The aspect that gets the best score, with 83% satisfaction, is water quality, followed by operational management (breakdowns, pressure) with 76% and, finally, sewerage service with 71% acceptance.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Regarding public transport, this service has 3% more satisfied respondents than last year, and its assessment is above the Spanish average (77% acceptance in Vitoria compared to 64% in Spain).



The best valued by the people of Vitoria are the state of cleanliness and conservation of public transport vehicles with 92% positive opinions; hourly frequency with 81% and comfort with 74% satisfaction.

Regarding the care of parks and gardens, the opinion of the people of Vitoria is above the national average with 75% satisfied, compared to 59% of the state average.

Vitorianos especially value the availability, condition and equipment of sports facilities with 82% acceptance; the care provided to green areas with 81%, and the quality of parks and public spaces with 80% satisfaction.

Regarding street cleaning, which satisfies 68% of the citizens of Vitoria, the best valued aspects are the frequency of service, with 79%; cleaning streets and sidewalks with 78%, and provision and equipment for service with 77%. It should be noted that this year the number of dissatisfied with this service has dropped by 10%.

Finally, garbage and waste collection, which drops one position compared to the 2017 Barometer, obtains an average satisfaction rate of 67% and is practically at the same values ​​as last year. The aspects best valued by the people of Vitoria are the container service for selective collection, with 80% acceptance, as well as the frequency of collection, with 78% acceptance.



According to the general director of OSUR, Ramiro Aurín, “in the case of Vitoria, as in Bilbao and Pamplona, ​​the excellent results of 2017 are repeated in terms of the perception that citizens have of their public services”.

“In this edition they remain as the third city in the ranking. In a context that borders on excellence, street cleaning services and garbage and waste collection are those that still have room for improvement”, he summarized.
