The Seville City Council withdraws the jurisdiction of sanctions from the Taxi Institute
The governing board of the Seville City Council has approved this Friday modifications in the statutes of the Municipal Taxi Institute and the Ordinance of the Public Transport Service of People in Tourism Cars, withdrawing from said body the powers in matters of disciplinary proceedings in order to that they are assumed by the local Tax Agency.
The purpose, according to the local government of Seville, is to focus the resources of the Municipal Institute of Taxi in the planning, organization, management and inspection of the activity.
Thus, it tries to establish measures to improve the quality of the service, which faces both the new crisis derived from the coronavirus pandemic Covid-19, which has caused a notable drop in the demand for taxis, such as the competition of the Transport Vehicles with Driver (VTC) that operate for the companies Uber and Cabify.
The fact that the Tax Agency assumes the processing of sanctioning files related to the activity of taxis, according to the City Council, also reinforces such procedures given the history of said entity in this task.
