On average, just under 200 corona patients are now hospitalized every day. This is evident from the preliminary data from health institute Sciensano on Thursday morning. Also with the number of infections and deaths, things continue to go in the right direction.

According to Sciensano’s dashboard, an average of 198 new corona patients are now admitted to hospital every day. That is a decrease of 27 percent.
A total of 3,588 corona patients are currently in a hospital in our country. That is 3 percent less than the previous seven-day average. 829 patients remain in intensive care units, also a decrease of 3 percent.
The number of diagnosed infections fell by 28 percent to 2,304 per day. Per 100,000 inhabitants, 334.4 infections are still registered, a decrease of 56 percent.
The number of deaths from covid-19 is also declining further. On average, almost 122 people still die every day, which is a decrease of almost a quarter.
About 29,200 people are tested every day. The positivity ratio, the number of people who test positive in relation to the total number of tests, is now 11.3 percent. The last known r-value dates from December 1, when it was 0.79. The fact that the figure is below 1 means that the pandemic in our country is shrinking.
