Gerard Ekdom sees a longing for the past in the entries for the Radio Top 4000 on Radio 10. The presenter of the station also himself that he will become nostalgic by the end of the year, he tells Thursday in The Telegraph.
“I found myself driving to a place where I lived, to see how things were going,” Ekdom said. “Every year around this time I become a nostalgic wreck. That’s not bad at all.”
The radio DJ says he will be more in the mood for old ballads by the end of the month. “I pull out old classics. They sound better now than in the summer.”
According to Ekdom, people can start playing Christmas music early this year with impunity. “The funny thing is: you used to be judged if you started too early because Saint Nicholas was still in the country,” said the radio DJ at the end of November in conversation with Radiofreak. “Not this year. We yearn for fun, lights, you name it. A longing for nostalgia.”
The Top 4000 chart of 2020, containing new and old songs that listeners have chosen, will be broadcast from Friday at 9am. Ekdom also presents the Top 4000 Music Quiz at SBS6.
