Of the four departments in Lorraine, it is Meurthe-et-Moselle where suspense prevails over the outcome of the departmental elections. The left believes in its lucky star, after the election of Mathieu Klein as mayor of Nancy. The right is already actively in the countryside, without advancing on a possible shift. The new president, Valérie Beausert-Leick, is the object of all attention: newcomer in politics in 2014, she was elected in the canton of Villers-Laxou by a hair (50.5%) in tandem with Pierre Baumann who has just lost the municipal elections in Laxou. The shift of three cantons from left to right, and no loss for the latter, is however far from being a certainty. The postponement of the elections could benefit the outgoing team.
