The United States has set another gloomy corona record. The number of corona patients in American hospitals has now exceeded 100,000 for the first time.
This is the highest number so far during the pandemic, and the number has almost doubled since the first wave of infection, according to The Guardian.
At the same time, more than 200,000 new cases of infection were confirmed in the country on Wednesday.
That worries Robert Redfield, head of the US National Center for Communicable Disease Control (CDC), and one of President Donald Trump’s own health leaders.
He comes with perhaps his strongest warning to date.
–
– The reality is that December, January and February will be tough times, Redfield stated at an event on Wednesday according to The Washington Post.
– I actually think it will be the most difficult time in the public health history of this nation, he continued.
The health service believes that the USA can reach 450,000 corona-related deaths by February if this development continues. To date, more than 272,000 people have died from coronary heart disease in the United States, according to Johns Hopkins University, which monitors the infection.
It is also not the first time that the health service warns that the winter will be difficult. As early as April, Redfield predicted that the so-called “second wave” would be worse than the first.
Now he warns that the pandemic could reach new heights in the United States.
– We are potentially there now. We are starting to see 1,500 to 2,000 to 2,500 deaths a day as a result of the virus. So yes, the mortality problems are real, and I think unfortunately that by February we can see that almost 450,000 Americans have died from this virus, he says.
However, Helsetoppen pointed out that the country can prevent such deaths.
He believes that both the use of face masks and social distancing are measures that work in the fight against the coronavirus.
According to The Washington Post Redfield said at the time, among other things, that a vaccine would not be ready for most people until the summer or autumn of 2021. Trump strongly disagreed.
– I think he made a mistake when he said that. This is not correct information. I called him and he did not tell me and I think he got the message. Maybe he was confused, maybe it came out wrong. We will be ready as soon as the vaccine is announced, Trump said.
