Palestine Receives IDR 16.18 Trillion in Taxes from Israel

RAMALLAH, iNews.idIsrael hand over money tax worth IDR 16.18 trillion to the Authority Palestine (PA), Wednesday (2/12/2020). The delivery of the money was confirmed by both parties.

The tax, administered by Israel under an interim peace agreement since the 1990s, has typically been transferred to Palestine on a monthly basis. The amount reaches more than half of the total budget controlled by the PA.

“The Israeli government transferred all financial contributions to the account of the Palestinian Authority,” said the Palestinian Minister for Civil Affairs, Hussein al-Syekh, in a tweet on Twitter, today, quoted Reuters.

The tax transfer with a value of 3.77 billion shekels (IDR 16.18 trillion) was the first time since June. Six months ago, Palestinians refused to hand over taxes from Israel because Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to annex parts of the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Palestine has also refused money from Israel several times in 2019 after the state Jewish it cuts the amount of its transfer in retaliation for the funds that go into the families of Palestinian fighters who are imprisoned or killed.

The Palestinian Authority has been unable to pay the full salaries of its 130,000 employees in recent months. Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said this week his party would pay their full salaries after receiving tax money from Israel.
