Pandemic obliges, the Christmas market, with its skating rink in particular, as well as the corrida of the end of the year, were canceled more than a month ago. But the city of Montluçon is launching its virtual Christmas market from Thursday 3 December until Sunday 3 January inclusive.
The services have developed a website, m-noel-montlucon. Non-commercial, it offers a series of online activities.

All the local players have been contacted. And several answered the call, and agreed to stage themselves in videos. The scalable platform is open to new proposals.
In total, around a hundred people got involved in the project, structured around nine themes.

The Ice Bar, the forest of images or the Elves’ workshop
Internet users will be able to navigate in the virtual market between the Ice Bar, where three bistros offer six cocktail recipes, the forest of images in which five photographers will highlight the illuminations, the Christmas jukebox where you can listen to carols season revisited by four local artists, or even Rennes cuisine. For children too, there is the Elves workshop (six creative leisure activities by the reception centers), Christmas tales (six stories read by the librarians).
Also to discover, the gift ideas of traders, the surprise of Santa Claus on December 24, or Christmas in Russia.
Two competitions
A competition “My beautiful tree” is organized. Children 2-5, 6-9 and 10-12 are invited to draw around Christmas. The illustrations can be sent until December 13, on the site or on the Facebook page M Noël Montluçon.
The public will vote until December 20 to designate three winners in each category. To be won, city checks of 100 euros, 75 euros and 50 euros.
We can also win, by registering before December 19, a photo shoot with Santa Claus.

Until January 3, Christmas lights will dress the city. The last decorations will be mounted until mid-December.
A illuminated historical trail will launch on Friday, December 4, at nightfall for five consecutive hours. At a distance of 1,500 meters, it will offer a stroll through the medieval center. One hundred and thirty solar light blocks have been installed to highlight ten places of interest, departing from Place Piquand. A guide-leaflet is available at the tourist office or directly on the office’s website. By the summer, explanatory panels, with QR code, will be in place. The investment is 60,000 euros.
The video mapping on the facade of the Ducs de Bourbon castle will be relaunched as of Friday, December 18. Until Sunday January 3, meeting is given at Place Piquand, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
