ITAGI: Vaccinations Are Important to Overcome Pandemic

Health protocols plus vaccinations can help control Covid-19.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Member of the National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee from the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI), Prof. Dr. dr Soedjatmiko SpA (K) invited the public to understand the importance of vaccination. He explained that vaccination is important to accelerate the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“So vaccination this will prevent transmission and help speed up the process of stopping the pandemic, “said Soedjatmiko in the Wednesday Dialogue on the theme Indonesia Prepare for Vaccinations, in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Soedjatmiko said most or nearly 80 percent of sufferers Covid-19 are people aged 19-59 years. Meanwhile, 60 percent of Covid-19 patients who died were aged between 16-59 years, namely those who generally still have activities outside the home.

To deal with the spread, the government has made efforts testing (examination), tracing (search), and treatment (care). The government has also provided the necessary facilities and infrastructure and educated the public about the need for discipline in implementing health protocols.

However, even though many people have implemented the protocol, the government still notes that there are quite a lot of Covid-19 cases. On average, between 4,000 and 5,000 people each day are positive for Covid-19.

In addition to the addition of cases, the number of victims who died from Covid-19 from among the community was also quite high with an average of around 100-160 people per day. Meanwhile, doctors and medical personnel who died from Covid-19 were also recorded as having reached around 290 thousand.

“Nearly 290 doctors and paramedics died because they struggled to cure the people who were already ill. Imagine how horrible it was,” said Soedjatmiko.

For this reason, countries in the world have thought of ways to make vaccines earlier so that the spread of the SARS-C0V-2 virus, the cause of the Covid-19 disease, can be controlled immediately. Soedjatmiko assessed that the implementation of health protocols is not enough.

Prevention efforts must also be supported by vaccination. Vaccination is an effective and efficient way to control the spread of Covid-19 cases.

Nah, this vaccination will prevent transmission and help speed up the process of stopping the pandemic, “he said.
