PERPIGNAN, KOMPAS.com – About 50 police, rescue workers and doctors on Tuesday (1/12/2020) helped remove a man obesity who is unable to wake up, and is too big to be carried out through the door or down the stairs.
The man named Alain Panabiere The 53-year-old spent months at his home in Perpignan, most likely due to a broken leg, said his lawyer, Jean Codognes.
Panabiere was cared for and fed by his brother but his condition continued to deteriorate, and at the end of October his lawyer wrote a letter to the Minister of the Interior France, Gerald Darmanin, requested emergency evacuation.

A few days later Panabiere who weighed about 300 kilograms and the Anti- Obesity France filed a legal complaint alleging not helping someone in danger.
“This is a high-risk operation,” Codognes said as police closed a narrow lane while evacuating him in the Panabiere two-story house.
Police said neighbors were also asked to leave their homes in case of work accidents during the evacuation.

After reinforcing the structure of the building, workers then breached the outer wall on the upper floor to open a path, according to journalists AFP at the scene.
Panabiere was then put on an IV and carefully carried on a hanging stretcher, so that he could still lie down to the ambulance that was waiting for him.

“When you move someone again after they have been immobile for 2-5 years, there is a risk of cardiac decompensation and venous thrombosis,” said Antoine Avignon head of endocrinology, diabetes and nutrition at the Montpellier hospital near the Panabiere residence.
“You are reviving a long resting cardiovascular system,” he continued AFP.
Avignon added that Panabiere would be treated in the city of Montpellier before being transferred to a rehabilitation center in a few weeks.
