The Orange women closed the European Championship qualification on Tuesday with a big victory over Kosovo. The Netherlands won 6-0 in the Rat Verlegh Stadium in Breda, making it without losing points in the group.
Because the Orange has long been certain of participation in the European Championship that will be held in England in 2022, occasional league coach Arjan Veurink gave a number of regular bench siters the chance. Before halftime, that did not lead to good play and there was no scoring against the number 125 of the world rankings.
In the second half, the score rose quickly due to a hat-trick by Katja Snoeijs (1-0, 4-0 and 6-0), two goals from Jill Roord (2-0 and 5-0) and a goal from Lieke Martens ( 3-0).
With the big victory, the Netherlands ends with impressive numbers in group A. The reigning European champion has thirty points from ten games and a goal difference of 48 for and 3 against.
The game with Kosovo was the last international match for the Orange in 2020. The team will play again in the first months of 2021 and those games are dominated by the preparation for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. It is the first time that the Dutch women have made it to the Games.
