Gucci, Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton: the luxury estate of a noble lady comes under hammer in Dresden

The finest fashions from Fendi, Gucci, Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton and more: a lady’s estate has it all.

Dresden – A handbag from the luxury label Fendi embroidered with pearls. A Gucci bag from the 70s. Brand new pumps from Escada and Salvatore Ferragamo. A mink stole. A black and white costume that Karl Lagerfeld designed over 40 years ago.

All of this and much more belongs to the estate of an old lady from West Berlin – it is now going under the hammer at the Dresden auction house Günther.

“A customer brokered the estate for us. It was actually about small Asian furniture, vases and sculptures,” explains art historian Anne Karge (41).

But when auction house owner Stefan Günther (62) opens the cupboards on site, he is met by fashion from five decades.

“500 pairs of shoes, 200 handbags, costumes in all colors, gloves, boxes full of scarves, belts, hats. The lady was fashionably coordinated from head to toe,” said Günther. The auctioneer transported the treasure to Dresden in a small truck.

Here Anne Karge takes a close look at it. “The lady was active in the travel industry, traveling the world a lot” – and always tres chic.

“The many clutches show that she liked going to the theater, opera or glamorous events in the evening. But not everything that says Louis Vuitton is real,” says Anne Karge.

But even if a lot is sorted out, there remains a very large collection of vintage fashion that will be auctioned on November 14th (from 10 a.m.).

Because only a few bidders fit into the auction house due to Corona, you can bid online as well (dresden-kunstauktion.de).

“It is the first time that we offer fashion at auction. That is why we start with all things without a minimum bid.” So a bargain could be in there.

Those who want to part with treasures, on the other hand, can have porcelain, toys, jewelry & Co. appraised free of charge by Stefan Günther and Anne Karge on October 10th (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) in the Transport Museum.
