Figures continue to fall, positivity ratio drops below …

The corona figures in our country continue to decline. This is evident from the preliminary data from the Sciensano health institute. On average, 2,323 new infections are registered every day.

In the period from November 21 to 27, an average of 2,323 people became infected with covid-19, a decrease of almost a third.

During the same period, an average of 126 people per day died from the effects of the lung virus. That is also a decrease, by almost 27 percent.

There were also fewer hospital admissions: an average of 217 people per day, 26 percent lower than the previous seven-day average. Just over 4,000 patients are currently in hospital. 900 of them are in an intensive care unit.

About 28,100 people are tested every day. The positivity ratio, the number of people who test positive in relation to the total number of tests, drops narrowly to below 10 percent, or 9.9 percent. The last known r-value dates from November 29, when it was 0.81. The fact that the figure is again below 1 means that the pandemic in our country is shrinking.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, 5.9 million tests have been carried out in Belgium and more than 577,000 infections have been detected. 42,432 people have already been hospitalized and 16,645 patients have died from covid-19.
