Martien Meiland and Haribo made the most annoying commercials this year

Haribo and Martien Meiland have been awarded a Loden Leeuw for the most annoying advertisement of the year.

The Haribo commercial was chosen with 39 percent of the vote. Also last year, the candy manufacturer was able to arouse the most annoyance among television viewers with its commercial. Despite this criticism, the commercial remained unchanged. Unlike last year, Haribo refused to receive the prize this time.

In second place, with 19 percent of the votes, Hornbach’s advertisement in which a man gets a relationship with his saw. Mattress manufacturer Decupré was found almost as annoying and finished third with 18.9 percent with the commercial in which two women talk about memory foam mattresses.

‘Next to the Televizierring’

Television presenter Martien Meiland received the Loden Leeuw for the most irritating advertisement in which a celebrity plays the leading role. The commercial in which he can be seen for the Vriendenloterij Bingo received 45 percent of the vote.

“He is gradually in every commercial break with his high voice and busy gestures” and “If he wins, I will also watch the award ceremony on mute”, were some of the responses from voters. Meiland himself is happy with the award: “I am very proud of it and it will be placed next to my Televizierring.”

Ex-footballer Andy van der Meijde ended with his commercial for Toto in second place with 25 percent of the votes and third place was for comedian Paul Haenen with his characters Bob and Emmy for Pricewise. He received 16 percent of the vote.

The Loden Leeuw has been awarded every year since 2002 by the television program Radar. This year, 103,000 people voted.
