LIVE | Minister: fewer P places at shopping centers in the fight against corona | Inland

Minister Ferd Grapperhaus (Security) is thinking of additional measures such as fewer parking options to discourage people from traveling to shopping centers. Last weekend, several cities prematurely locked their inner-city shops because it was far too busy.

The minister and the mayors of the 25 security regions will discuss on Monday evening during the security meeting whether the cabinet should intervene harder to reduce the number of infections more quickly, and if so, what measures should be taken.

The mayors are divided on the approach. Mayor John Jorritsma of Eindhoven, among others, calls for stricter rules to be set. Mayor Sybrand Buma van Leeuwarden says that the north can “handle the current national package.” Wouter Kolff van Dordrecht advocates regional customization.

The minister emphasizes that the Dutch must especially adjust their behavior. According to him, all measures are not fun, but they are necessary to beat corona.

From Tuesday, a new obligation will be added: the duty to mask the mouth. Grapperhaus warns that people should wear a face mask not only in public places such as museums, shops and libraries, but also in bus shelters and tram stops.
