Turkish airlines could soon enjoy much-needed financial support from the government. As an industry insider told Bloomberg, an aid package of up to 20 billion lira (around 2.1 billion euros) should be made available, which enables loans with a term of 48 months and later repayment.

The chairman of the Turkish Private Aviation Enterprises Association TÖSHID, Mehmet Tecfik Nane, met in Ankara with the Turkish Minister of Transport, Adil Karaismailoglu, to discuss the situation of the airlines. Karaismailoglu expressed the government’s support for the airlines. He then stated: “We will discuss the measures and support together with Finance Minister Lütfi Elvan and Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and during this period we will do what we can as a government.”

Mehmet Tevfik Nane expressly thanked the government for the support that had been given so far: “We explained to the minister the situation we are in as the aviation sector and presented our demands to him. We are and have been one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic Receive government support at all times during this period. ”
