Genemans spent three years with the detective team in the Nicky Verstappen case. He started before Jos B. came into the picture as a suspect. Only later a DNA research was started. The documentary about the research is scheduled for Sunday and Monday.
B.’s lawyers argue that the documentary cannot be broadcast until the appeal in the case has been heard. They have filed a lawsuit to keep the documentary off tube.
“It is true that we have received a summons today,” said a spokesperson for the channel. “RTL and No Pictures Please are still behind this carefully made documentary and we assume that we can broadcast this morning.”
Peter R. de Vries, confidant of the Verstappen family, therefore sees little chance for B. “Everything in the documentary about Jos B. is already known or broadcast,” said De Vries. He calls the summary proceedings ‘very late’.
Appeal
Last Friday, Jos B. was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison for, among other things, the abuse and kidnapping of the 11-year-old boy in 1998. He is appealing. Because the court acquitted B. of manslaughter, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) is also appealing. Moreover, the Public Prosecution Service also wants TBS with compulsory nursing to be imposed.
11-year-old Nicky from Heibloem disappeared in 1998 during a summer camp on the Brunssummerheide. His body was found nearby a day later. For years the matter seemed to go unsolved. Only 2.5 years ago, suspect Jos B. was arrested after a manhunt in Spain, partly thanks to a tip from a Telegraaf reader. He emerged in a DNA relationship study.
