Who cares if we get a black James Bond? A lot for some people, as they would consider it a good development in the light of the current social debate. Others prefer to see an authentic white 007. Still others don’t care much: just a good actor?No Time to Die-ster Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) thinks it will be a nasty discussion. She doesn’t think it’s a party at all that should be celebrated by the entire world. She said the following to GQ:
The fact that you have to celebrate, as if it’s New Age, as if black people have just arrived on the planet … That annoys me at the idea that Idris Elba is ‘the black union’ … For my community, those are real big things, but for the rest of the world, I don’t want you to care. “
First black and female 007
Lynch was recently confirmed to be playing a first black and female Bond in No Time to Die. It is still unknown if she will return for that Bond 26 and then possibly as head 007. No Time to Die is scheduled for April 2, 2021.
